Inferior iPhone charging cord

I am already on number three
iPhone 5s and iPad mini just don't like the inferior charging cord.
And that in less than a year
Freaking expensive cord at R399 a pop.....
Sigh.....

Bought one from takealot for R193. Works well. Must make sure it is Made For iPhone (MFi) compatible.

Can't you get the microUSB Lightning adapter? buy one and then just get a few microUSB cables, much cheaper in the long run.

Ah, I missed that because the link took a long time to load so I clicked out.

Yes, then I second Bwana's suggestion , I am still using the one I bought when the iPhone 5 launched, and I bought another for the car about 18 months ago.

They work perfectly and it means any microUSB becomes an official Lightning cable.

I bought a 3M lightning cable from Oneday only. I think it lasted for about 2 months before giving issues, but it seems to be on the lightning USB thingy part as it works for a while when I wet it a bit and wipe it off.

My legitimate iPhone cable works fine though, but it's freakin short.

Again, as the other gent remarked about the Emtec cable, it feels far superior to the Apple OEM cable.

Got the same cable, last week all my devices started informing me this cable is incompatible with this device.

You can buy longer cords from Apple.

The problem with generics is unless they've licensed the lightning end from Apple there's a good chance they'll eventually stop working… and then you have to buy a new cable.

With Apple adopting USB-C on their laptops we might see a transition to the same on the iPhones/iPads.

Go take a look around google and see if its isolated.
My ipad and iphone cables are both pretty screwed just below the connector and they dont ever leave home, just get plugged in each night.

I bought a generic braided cable that I travel with and its still 100% perfect!

Yip. I got the incompatible problem with the cheap flea market cables. When i researched it there is a difference in the construction of the authorized and fake cables.

A reputable company like Takealot and Loot would sell the valid "Made for iPhone" cables that are authorized. This is the one I have and it's solid.

I know it is a fast problem across the internets and this is not the first nor the last thread regarding the subject on MyBB - but I stand by my point. A cable just laying around cannot disintegrate by itself.

You also get cheap and slow charging micro-usb capables. At least those don't cost above R70.

You can use a small piece of heat shrink tubing on the cable to prevent that.

Again, I can't imagine how you're treating your cables. My Lightning cable, for example, often gets yanked, putting lots of pressure at the connector. Yet it's barely worn, given what it's been through.
