got a CD from a guy with audio that he recorded. It play on a player at home, but not on another one. I told my wife I will change it to *.wav but don't no how to do it.
If it was mp3 or amr, no problem.
this is 1 track and says 2kb big. Did not come right with Mr Google as well.

Have you ripped a cd before?

Yes, but tried it with switch and easy cd extractor. They both dont know this format. This recording was made from a computer.

If all else fails, maybe you could play it on the player that works and then record the sound output via your pc.

The CDP file is not the audio file. It was most likely put there by one of two programs...
Sony CD Architect File = http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/cdarchitect
CD/Spectrum Pro = http://www.synthesoft.com/cdspro/cdspro.htm

The actual audio is most likely in a raw format on the CD.
Try using this program to extract the RAW Audio Data...
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

If that still fails, then you will have to do a audio record as stevovo said above.
You can use this program for that...
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

some people record things for you and knows that anyone can play it anywhere. I [my wife] got it to practice a song on it.
