Information on charges on BB BES

Can someone tell me what I get charged for and what I dont get charged for when using BB BES?

Are attachments sent to my emails charged when i download them?
Are attachments sent to bbm,whatsapp,google chat charged?
Am i charged for downloading apps from bb app world?
Uploading and downloading pics from FB? Even when using FB app?

I need as much info as possible
 
Do you really mean BES and not BIS?

BES requires an email server which then has an add on installed which synchronises between that server and the BB device.

I mean BES. My company run an exchange server and I have done an EA activation. All is working fine and service books are there.

I have set my browser to push my traffic via the mds server. Last thing i want is to add inhibitors on my line because i do from time to time load a bundle should i need to. I want to escalate to the BES administrator, but I want to do my homework first and actually tell him what settings to change.
 
BB charges a flat fee, for me its R60. For that its an unlimited data plan. Which means you get to surf on the device as long as you want. You get to download as much and as many emails and attachments as you want. Should you connect the bb to pc for tethering then you will be billed seperately.

Hi zizebra

So when you receive your bill there is no data usage there? I do not tether cos i have a 3G card and a built in modem on my laptop as well. That sim card is safely packed away.

I also dont stream any videos, something strange is happening on my account but what is it?
 
BES is R98
Same as BIS but dependant on your server admin settings. Additional security, company firewalls, internet browsing policies etc.
 
Haldex, that is correct. I'm paying R98 for BES and an additional +-R100 for data. Why spend all that money on a bb and still pay for 250 - 500mb's of data. I suspected the apps i have:
iLock Pro - Doesnt use data to function, only locks apps
Snap secure: only use it to block unwanted calls
Facebook and twitter: should be free
Whatsapp: should be free

I have also set TCP/IP is set to use the blackberry.net apn, but i think that setting is ignored and defaults to the internet browser.
 
Things like streaming media, whatsapp media, pic/music transfer are charged for. Otherwise there shouldn't be any other data charges.
 
Its quite clear nobody here understands how BES works, unlike BIS, EVERYTHING on BES is free, you should not be paying R100pm for data, your provider is screwing you.

You pay the additional costs as the service works differently, with BES your SP is nothing more than a conduit, you connect via their networks directly to your company servers (ie you screwed if its off) and use the actual adsl link up to download, any limitations and restrictions are that that is setup on the companies server, not your SP's side.

The apps you listed are not a worry, what could be causing it is your apn, I know with BIS is does ***ol, but with BES it may be causing you to bypass normal BES and switch over to the SP's network using internet instead of BIS/BES, blackberry.net is nothing more than a placebo, it made stupid people on BIS think they wont get charged when in fact all it did was waste 10 seconds of their lives. The apn MUS ALWAYS remain BLANK in order for your phone to correctly use the settings it needs as provided by the network.

Thought as much, maybe that server is not recognising me as a BES user, or my device is defaulting to the internet browser no matter what settings. I'll have a chat with my BES administrator. I can access my company intranet on my device so i think the Admin is not routing all my traffic via the mds server or maybe the mds server is always offline/ turned off after hours and weekends where I'm nailing the internet.
