While installing an SSD in my 2010 Mac Mini I managed to fall foul of a common trap and ended up ripping the cursed IR port clean off of the logic board. Yea... I know.
I'm wondering if a USB IR receiver will work as replacement. Ideally the Mac would just see it as an IR receiver and treat is the same way it did the old one but I fear that the reality is more likely one of driver compatibility hassles and the rending of follicles by force.
Anyone have some experience or info?
