Infrastructure routing when porting to Vodacom?

I am looking at porting my number from MTN to Vodacom due to some services that MTN blocks but Vodacom does not. After porting will any calls / messages still go via part of the MTN infrastructure first before arriving at Vodacom (i.e. is there a chance that filtering may still take place?)
