Hi all,

I'm at my wit's end.

Here's the situation...

I cannot send any email to a business friend of mine.

I have tried from my .com, my Ananzi account and from my work account.

Each one returns a 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.5.3 - chkuser) error.

I have disabled everything that could an issue - it is a basic email.

If my friend sends something to me first, I can reply no problem.

Her IT team says there is nothing wrong, but I think they're being lazy and don't care. It has to be them?

What info' can I spoon-feed them into fixing this please?

Thanks.

“Reason: 553 sorry, that domain isn’t in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)”

This usually occurs when:

1. The domain name contained in the email address (being sent to) has not fully propagated yet.Domain propagation is the process where Internet Service Providers (ISPs) around the world automatically update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new domain or to reflect a change in the hosting provider for the domain name. Once the changes have been made, the domain’s website and email services will be activated. Please note that full domain propagation can take between 24-72 hours. To verify when your domain was last updated, we suggest that you conduct a whois on your domain. A popular whois tool is located here: http://www.allwhois.com.OR
2. Your POP mail client (ie. Outlook) is not configured properly.

Oh and "The fix for this situation is to change the smtp server in the mail client to match the one provided by your ISP or IT Dep"

Cannot be an error on his side, he used e.g. the ananzi webmail interface that routes via their own SMTP servers that should be set up correctly. The domain propagation should also be done by now as he mentions that he is able to reply to his friend (although I'm still a bit confused about this)

I'm still scratching my head here. Mikroz mind dropping me a PM with the domain you are trying to send the email to? I just want to check their MX records quick...

Edit: Also double check where your friend's emails are coming from matches the email addy you initially used or got on record.

Hi eXeBuG,

I should've pointed out that her domain has been around and in use for a looooong time.

My friend started with her new company (I'm guessing) 2-3 months ago. It wasn't really an issue then because we didn't have a need to correspond much by email then. Now we do.

If it's an SMTP issue, how is it that I cannot send email from either one of my three email accounts? :(

Thanks for the info' though.

EDIT: Will do Id13. Thanks.

I'm somewhat confused here. I ran the normal diagnostics. Some of my normal tools reports no mx records for the domain, while others did indeed find a mx record. But I've seen that happen, that ain't too odd. Other than that I just don't know what is wrong yet.
I think I've got a gap in my education, or at least that is how it feels. The error I'm getting when sending any email to that domain is one that leads me to believe that my SMTP server is stuffed... but I know that is not the case! I even tried via gmail, same thing.

Question @ everyone: If I send an email to you, how does it get delivered? MX lookup gets done right, then it connects to your mail server and delivers the email... but using what protocol?

Hehe. ID13 - you're only the latest in a long line of very confused people, most of all me.

I've tried initiating contact from 3 totally different email systems, so I can understand you having issues via Gmail too.

Are you also getting the '553 rcpthosts' error?

Send me the domain as well please and I'll also look it up.

The mx lookups from ld13 sounds like they have 2 nameservers with conflicting records.

Mx looks fine. I also get the same error when trying to send emails to there.

I am wondering why the site goes to sedoparking though?

My guess, you might have gotten the email wrong. So when you reply it works...but when you try send a new email it doesn't?

Hi bullfrog,

I'll chat to my friend as soon as can be. Made notes of all the tips - and queries (ie: sedoparking).

Will also SMS her to reconfirm the email address.

Thanks for the help. :)

Hi McGuywer,

I told me friend to cancel the query with her IT staff.

I found the problem, but I'm feeling a little sheepish about admitting it. Hahaha.

Consider it solved and case closed. :D

Thanks though.

Cheers.
