Hey all! Does this sound right... Phoned the 011 650 2343 number to cancel my contract which expires at the end of February, only to find out I have to give a months notice, which is the reason I phoned so early so that the last month of my contact can actually be the last month.

Now the person tells me that the months notice can only be served after the contract has expired, so basically the 24 month contract is actually a 25 month contract... The person on the other end said it is in the contract and I need to go read it, which I will do when I get home, but just wanted to hear from you guys if this sounds right?

Doesn't sound right but it does sound pretty familiar...

They're bulls**ing you. Just go to hellopeter already and post your complaint there. You are going to get NOWHERE calling their call centre and at your expense too.

Yeah, hellopeter can be effective - a courier just brought me a voucher for 2 free pizza's after I complained about Scooters (burned pizza, missing extras, rude staff) - The head offices of a lot of companies have people resolving issues.

Ha typical, we went to go get a laptop on a data contract for my mom, got a email last night saying it is now in stock and we can pick it up today.

So went there today and they told us they have bad news, the laptop is not in stock and they sent a email this morning, after calling BS on the email excuse they showed us proof they sent the email, too bad it was to some random dude.

Then we get told sorry they have no idea when they are getting stock. Autopage is a joke.

Lesson learnt: Stay away from Autopage & Nashua Mobile - they are the WORST cellular service providers in the country!

I've said it before. There is NO reason to sign with a 3rd party like AP and NM. If there's an issue with your service you have to call them on your own account (and stay on hold on your own account). And if they have to liaise with the networks regarding your service like adding bundles, upgrades, etc. you are at their mercy - you are stuck in the middle while they decide who is responsible, they or the network.

They're just thinking up convenient excuses to keep you paying for a bit longer.

High time that the sunset clause get scrapped, and outlawed for good.

I feel your pain. I cancelled my last contract with them last year in November. The overcharged me by R400 and decided to do me a huge favour by refunding me R200 at the end of december.

I phone them last week to ask them when they are going to do the refund. They say they have credited my account. So I say 'What account? I have closed all my accounts with you". They say the last one is still there because it has a credit balance.

I ask them why they did not do a transfer into my account. Turns out they will only actually refund your money if you phone them and specifically ask them to refund it. Closed account or no. Then it still takes another 3 to 4 weeks after the request for them to process it.

A more devious and dishonest company I have not ever come into contact with.

Thats Auto-suck-my-balls for you!!!!

You can only cancel in the last month, not a day earlier, and you have to do it with that number you called. When I canceled my contract 3yrs ago I got very little help on who to call and how to do it.

Just make written notes of each and every phone call with these tossers.

Oh, and once they process the request, you then get a very nice callcenter person phone you to ask if there is anything they can do to change your mind, including special offers ... tossers delux.

And good for on getting these aholes out of your life, I felt a burden off my shoulders when I got rid of them after 8years.

Hey all! Though I would give a quick update... I placed a complaint on hellopeter and got a call from them the following day. The guy I spoke to was sort of helpful and said they would cancel the contract for me when it was meant to end anyway, so a happy ending...... for now... though I am willing to bet that come March Ill still get debited anyway...

I tried to find out from the guy I spoke to if this was a normal thing and apparently it is, though to be honest I still dont understand how it all works as surely if the contract is meant to end after 24 months why would I need to cancel it? I also asked him if it is not illegal to auto-renew a contract and he started going on about dates and and month ends, and managed to get me even more confused than I was, so I just said thank you and hung up...

Seriously though this is the last contract I ever get!

Watch your bank account like a shark in March and reverse immediately if debited.

The worst thing about Autopage is, I was due for a upgrade and wanted a BB 9800 fone I looked on the website and they showed the deals with NO pay in when I went through they told me those deals are only for "new customers" and I would have to pay in a huge amount ( over 2000 back then) to get that phone on contact as I was an exsisting customer .... That's so unfair!!!

I agree fully: Autopage is a geographical oddity in the sense that it has attracted and amassed the balance of scumbags of the world not pulled in by the slightly stronger scum gravity field of the SA government. They must be number 2 on the all-time list of thief infested office space even topping the likes of Telkom and Eskom.
