The state relied on a fingerprint and a partial footprint as their so-called evidence against him.

No I don't know the author. I find it very sad to write a book and profit from it over something like this ;)

Well, it's the 2nd book that will appear. The other one was written by Anthony Altbeker.

I suppose people have their reasons for writing these books and it is not always 100% profit driven.

Cape Town - The Lotz family has axed private detective and former super sleuth Piet Byleveld from the investigation into the death of Stellenbosch student Inge Lotz.

In a statement, the family thanked Byleveld for his assistance and confirmed that their agreement had been terminated, reported Beeld.

Byleveld had been appointed to the case by the Lotzes a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Hawks - who are investigating the brutal 2005 murder - have requested that two young women who were dressed “like goths” and visited the crime scene shortly after the murder contact the police.

The young women were apparently dressed in black clothing and appeared at the flat on the night of the murder.

"They looked like goths. We want to know what they were doing there. Were they friends or bystanders? They form part of the loose ends that the police want to clear up. It could be innocent. We just want to investigate it," said investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Mike Barkhuizen.

Not likely after all these years.

If the killer was known to Inge, it is very probable that s/he has already been interviewed by SAPS in the initial investigation. Also, according to what I read, a lot of their friends have moved overseas subsequently.
 
Lots of unsolved murders out there. Just because she was pretty people don't want to let it go.

There are many, many unsolved mysteries/crimes/disappearances that keep people guessing for years. Not all of them concerns attractive people.

How many Freds are there? How many are in jail as their family couldn't fight the state prosecuting machine?
