Sometimes anti-social, always anti-fascist.
I have had some issues with signal and had someone round to realign my dish.
He sorted it out but recommended an 'inline amp' as the best he could get was ±60% signal.

Everything is working fine... kinda - certain periods during the day (early afternoon specifically) are very bad and one or two channels are significantly worse than others.

Anyone used an inline amp?

Recommendations?

An inline amp is only necessary when you are running 75m+ on RG6 cable. If the signal quality is 100%, don't worry about the signal strength. An inline amp actually adds noise to the signal and will therefor decrease the signal quality, even though it is increasing the strength. I always tell installers that an amp is not the solution to every signal problem.

OK, I see what you are getting at here.

Double checked: both signal strength and quality hover in the high sixties, say 65/67%.

I guess this means the dish should ideally be relocated and that an inline amp will only introduce more variables that may or may not really help.

No, I'm saying it will definitely not help :)

Or fine alignment - bad location. Atlantic seaboard is a notorious 'dead-spot', thinking of getting a longer mast...

Dead spot. Don't know about that. Check your dish, LNB and allignment... and make sure there is nothing in the way of your dish. Also get an installer with a proper satellite instrument.
