Hi All,

so Im thinking to go out and buy this phone, all the reviews look positive, but a few details concern me

firstly, does this phone come with gorilla glass? how tough and rugged is this phone, as I understand this phone dosnt come with a cover and its hard to find for this model, can the screen crack quite easily?

and secondly, ROM and rooting wise, is it even possible? not many opinions on XDA dev regarding it.

and thirdly, warranty wise? Im coming from a samsung with a 3 year warranty .

Im sure I will appreciate the speed, coming from an ancient phone (alaxy pocket s5300) ,

I don't think it has gorilla glass.
Build quality seems okay but for that price something had to give. The battery looks generic.
Any screen can crack if you drop it the wrong way.

Rooting should be possible but forget about other ROMS unless you do it yourself.

Takealot has a good warranty so you should be fine for a year.

It's also R1199 now. From R1499 the other day. I was very keen but have decided to chill a bit (save) and get the more impressive Innjoo One or maybe that Wileyfox.

EDIT: Yeah doesn't seem to have Gorilla glass...

It has dragontrail glass, which is also quite good, though not as good as Gorilla.

Also, it does come with a cover, mine did, it looks a lot like a samsung cover.

The build quality is quite good, I'm impressed with mine and for R1199, it's a steal. As said before, you do get what you pay for though, so don't expect the moon and the stars. The phone does have its quirks, but if you aren't going to play games on it, it's a really good phone for the price.

quirks such as what exactly?,
remember Im coming from a samsung pocket that loading uber or takalot mobile app is impossible.

Im very tempted by this and that FNB deal for a LG leon phone, for R99 x 24

You'll never get such with a device with at least 1GB RAM.

That = debt. With the Innjoo it's once off.

Plus you get extra GB of RAM,an extra sim slot and .5" more screen display.

VGA vs 5MP selfie.

How's the Wileyfox?

I've saw it on Orange.

Have only 'reviewed' it online :D Specs-wise it's really good. Same/similar camera as Huawei P8 lite. Would chose between this and the Innjoo One if I was shopping in the R2.5k bracket.

Have you received yours yet?

real tempted to just do it, get myself one of these phones and have a normal android like everybody else......

how does it compare to the experia e1?

At R1199, I say go for it. I had it in my takealot shopping basket when it was R1499 for weeks :o Then it wasn't available and I thought I missed my chance...

Do it!!

EDIT: Wouldn't know how it compares to anything else but looking at what else you get for that price, makes it a clear winner.

It'll hardly be a normal droid if it's from a small largely still unknown manufacturer :P
It'll be closer on the power front though than a old low to mid-end phone like Xperia E1.

Nothing major. The screen isn't as sensitive as higher priced models, so you have to push down a little harder sometimes.

The 5mp camera is okay. My screen slopes just half a millimetre on the left side, so when you run your finger over the right, it's smooth and on the left you feel the ridge a bit. The double tap to wake only works sometimes.

That being said, awesome phone, for the price. The 2gb of ram was the most important part for me, as 1gb will drive you insane! For R1199, it's definitely worth it.

thats what worries me a bit, I mean samsung is at least well known
but innjoo releases firmware on their website, but not 100% sure regarding covers and the like,
I mean my samsung has survived a lot of the bumps and knocks of life as I have a casing on it,

Ill order through takealot, and not sure exactly what comes with the phone, anybody here order through them?
what does one get?

one thing for sure is anything I get should be better than my current galaxy pocket!

That means exactly nothing if it's not a flagship. Samsung has absolutely no love for the mid to low tier sector and will rather fart out a new model than update a current one in that part of the market.
And as result of this lack of love there's also very little accessory support.

Samsung make some really horrid low-end devices ...and their decent devices are over-priced imo. What Samsung will R1499 let alone R1199 get you?
