Hi guys

After much contraversy with FNB increasing their prices and most people saying that they have "Lost the plot". So i was wondering...

If you were calling the shots at one of the major banks, how would ensure that your bank has the edge? Obviously cellphone banking and tablets are the latest craze..... So whats the next step?

Keep it within reason please

i was thinking of banks launching something awesome like free parking at all intellepark parking garages since they the most common.

Or even exclusive groupon type deals

basically da question is what will cause you to leave your current bank?

cellphone banking

Might have been relevant in the times before we had proper browsers on our cellphones to access the normal internet banking sites. These days I don't see a need for splitting "cellphone" and "internet" banking

Have nothing to do with banking affairs and are available at cellphone and computer shops. They could just as well be selling umbrellas or house paint. We go to banks for banking products and services, not gimmicks.

Standard has the right idea, at least in principle. One fixed monthly fee. All transactions that cost the bank nothing (or very close to), shouldn't cost the client anything. I'm talking about internet transfers/payments, card purchases, etc. Your electronic money should be moved back and forth through the cloud without having to wonder how much extra you'll pay for that R50 worth of groceries as you didn't draw cash at the most appropriate place.

So whats the next step?

NFC PAYMENTS!!!

FFS the world is moving towards that and we barely just got everyone onto using chip cards. Get with the program, SA banks, we want to use our Google Wallets.

Personally I prefer banks offering the best banking services possible at the lowest possible price, not gimmicks.

To clarify: NFC payments for example would not count as gimmicks. Banks offering ADSL data does.

google wallet... which is basically nfc.... That i think is the next step...

Will u guys change banks to a banks that has google wallet or will u believe it too risky? But then again, its google.... Security is pretty tight

That's not the only thing, but it certainly would set the one bank that supports it apart from the rest if all else is equal. And no, if all the proper safety protocols are implementet, I believe it's just as safe as a cheque/debit/credit card protected by a PIN. Maybe even more so since stealing your phone won't give a thief access to your account wheres stealing a card without a PIN might.

The most important thing however is the basics, for cheap. Banks are businesses, they need to make money but they don't need to rip us off.

The basic idea is to have the easiest access to my money, buy things as easily as possible, and pay as little as possible for the privilege. Service levels would be a close second. For example, if I talk to a home loan consultant, I'd like them to be able to give me answers and not just shrug their shoulders at me. And standing in a queue for 20-30 minutes during work time just to change my postal address is also not my idea of fun.

in terms of fees.... I believe standard elite banking of R99 pm is the sweet spot. All electronic transactions included.

I also believe that google wallet can be safe. As for the line, maybe some type of express line or something

and i believe the entire service industry need training in terms of customer service...

bwahha I wish... I work at one of the big 4 banks, and unless you are at a certain level (Junior Management and up), you have to pay for parking at the office.
