There are some folks here who understand desktop pc's a whole lot better than I do. I would appreciate your input into this potential purchase :

PLEASE NOTE . . . This is not for gaming, purely for graphics work.

INTEL E6600 CORE 2 DUO S775, 2.40Ghz, 1066FSB, 4MB
INTEL G965 motherboard
1024MB DDR2 DIMM PC4200 Apacer (x2)
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA II (x2)
NX7600GS-T2D256EH MSI graphics card
ATX P4 Type 460W Power Supply
Proline Office Midi Tower Case
Logitech LX710 cordless keyboard/mouse combo

depending what type of "graphics work" you do, you will definitely benefit from using a Quadro FX card instead of a standard 3D card. I have built a few machines for people who have opted for Quadro FX cards using after GeForces for a while and they were stunned by the difference.

other than that, the rest of the spec seems fine. just make sure the board has at least 4 RAM slots, so you can add more later, and to be honest Apacer RAM wouldn't be my first choice.

hope that helps. happy shopping.

It is not a bad setup, but you are spending some money in the wrong places. Fast'ish cpu, m/b with integrated solution (i know you won't be using this, but it downgrades the m/b) and slow vga.

Rather go for a AMD 6000+ (+/_ same performance as the 6600 but a lot cheaper, bout R600), a MSI K9N Ultra-2F mb (also an entry level discreet Nvidia M/B, and also cheaper) and bump your VGA up to a 8600GTS 256.

The two systems should come very close on price, but the 8600GTS will make the AMD system much faster, and graphics is what you want it for anyway.

Just for the record, i run both (AMD Athlon x2) and (Intel Core 2 Duo) systems, and still cannot say the one is better than the other.

May the Force be with you.
