Nope, they are a christian guerilla rap group, using the rap culture to do anti science, and allowing an opening to be made for religious bs to be inserted in kids.

reminds of my stupid nephew, comes dumb ideas from his cell mates. (It's impossible for water to change into wine, at least without the use of a huge particle accelerator and lots of time)

I would argue that there is an insidious anti-science propaganda message been propagated via extremely popular sci-fi movies. Think about the subliminal messages in movies like:

1. Bladerunner
2. Terminator 1, 2....5000

What are they really saying?

Well it has been argued that Deckard himself may have been a replicant. Showing that science polices itself and fixes it's own mistakes. Something I regard as pretty positive.

Even though I'm not 100% sure about your post and whether or not it was tongue-in-cheek or sarcasm (man we need a tag for that) I think you do have a point. The dystopian (this word is not in the spell checker? seriously?) future presented in those films (lol Terminator 5000) do have a "repent and return to nature and junk because otherwise THIS is going to happen!" message in there. Doesn't stop it being one of my fave films ever though. :p

Anecdotal fanboi speculation. Happens with many cult movies/books etc. Overanalysis. Gibson in an interview (author of the cult novel ‘Neuromancer’) said that some of the theories were so bizarre about ‘what he meant’ that he was truly shocked and mystified. Nope. Fail.

Actually neither. It’s a genuine question that I am insecure about. Hence the butt-covering in case I was pooh-poohed out of court. Ego protection. But you DO think I have a point (and you can’t take it back).

And it shouldn’t. The issues are entirely separate.

What bothers me though is that the anti-science faction (who I have always held in contempt) have produced pretty good movies to reinforce their point. Maybe they are not as foolish as I have always thought? Scary. Cognitive dissonance?

Actually, I am going to sit on the fence with this one. Receptors open, gathering data. I can see how this pushes the agenda for the anti-science faction and have some grudging support for this view. However, I can’t believe that the anti group would be so sophisticated as to use advanced media technology, good story lines and decent movies (the things they are against) to push their agenda. They all wear sandals, eat bean sprouts, worship Gaia and advocate a return to nature, don’t they?

I wonder if the directors of the movies are pro or anti. They would wield substantial influence. I must Google.
