"Install Other OS" Feature Removed From the PS3

For those PS3 users who are currently using the “Other OS” feature but choose to install the system software update, to avoid data loss they first need to back-up any data stored within the hard drive partition used by the “Other OS,” as they will not be able to access that data following the update.

I guess its due to the hack being used by Geohot
 
Definitely man, it's a case of Sony covering up a security hole now. Wonder how this will affect homebrew
 
Let’s wait and see what happens first. Although Sony would love to disable this function, the April 1st launch date sounds a bit suspicious.
 
Who here does use linux on it and what can you do with it?
Is it such a big loss ?
 
I don't use Linux on my PS3 60GB console. No real loss for me.

Also, is this going to be a mandatory update or optional?
