Does anyone have a back door into Telkom ADSL installations?
I have just moved house (Friday gone) and organised on 28 March 2005 to have my ADSL installed at the new house so when I moved I would not have to go without my net connection (had ADSL 2 years now). The installation was scheduled for last Monday - no-one pitched, then they re-scheduled the installation for last Friday - no-one pitched, then they re-scheduled it for yesterday (4 May) and *sigh* - no-one pitched.
I have called numbers in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria to try resolve this and find out what is going on and it appears the only help you can get at any number you call is another number to call.
This morning I spoke to Nool Pieters who is supposedly a senior manager with the installations dept, and he personally guarenteed a call back - and guess what - no-one called.
I am sick to death of Telkom and their messing around. They don't have a clue how to use their own system and instead I must be the one phoning around trying to find out what is going on - and still no-one can answer.

Does anyone have a number to go right to the top above the stupid plebs that answer the telephones. I want my net connection sorted now.

Welcome to the Hellkom Experience

Sorry for your experience. Its damm frustrating. It might get better after 5 years of competition !! We only got connected after a year of waiting for the loacal exchange to have the DSLAM installed.

Yeah,

But you have to use a bomb threat to get them to give you the cellphone number.

I've never been able to get the tecchie's name and number from the call centre.

:)

Adlo is spot on. You must get the Techies cell number. When I moved, I also said I needed to make arrangements with the techie to make sure I'm at home when he was due to do the installation. I was given his cell number without even asking.
