I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop gfx card from a Geforce Go 6800 to a 6800 Ultra.

Is there anyone who could install this (Gauteng area) and what would it cost?

i think the cards in a laptop are specially designed for them and are more than likely onboard

i dont think its works like a desktop

i mean how would a vga card fit in their :)

The Go is a standalone card. I have an Inspiron 9300, and I know that it is upgradeable.

lol ja you will have to maby cut the silver part where the screencable plugs in a bit thinner to make it fit in your laptop case. but i dont think you have those PCI or AGP plugs inside a laptop hey? maby you should get a new laptop rather?

I do those sort of installations for around R1000,

but i must warn u, I have nooooooo idea what i'm doin.

whahahaha,

isn't your machine still under warrantee? You shoulda taken the 3 year extended care plan... most computer techies will beable to swap that card for you, it's actually quite strait forward, like putting in RAM.

It can't be all THAT hard, it's not friggin' brain surgery.
Just follow the directions and be careful. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Good luck, be sure to post some pics! :)

lolz... my mate in the US ignored my email, so I couldn't bid on the card (which shipped to USA only).

Gonna wait a couple of months for 7800's to get a little cheaper.
