Installing Lion, applications question

If I install Lion will I need to reinstall all my installed apps again?

My main concern is Xcode, it's 4GB its self!

i don't think so as i installed mine over leopard and my apps were there still but then again i got a clean machine that i use for testing only so nothing much on it

Only Xcode 4.1 and up runs on lion. It is a free download from the app store but unfortunately it is a 4GB download. Most of my other apps ran fine. A few needed updates.

I ran the installer over Leopard as well with no issues. Like Gambit said, a couple of apps will need updates. You might want to install an app like AppFresh http://metaquark.de/appfresh it'll scan your machine for all the apps that need updating and you can download and install them from the app as well.

Don't forget to backup, you can always restore from a Timemachine backup if something goes wrong, it helped me a great deal.
