So I was working on OS a application in C, and had some trouble under Windows. Was able to clear them but thought to avoid any more problems let me just install Ubuntu as I have been meaning to for awhile.
So as the installation progress I'm asked on which drive should the installation occur, thinking that my laptops internal hard drive is always fluctuating, I decided to install it on one of my external hard drives. Big effing mistake.
When the installation was done GRUB took over as the OS boot loader. But it's path was lead to the external hard drive. So that means when I tried to use Vista disconnected from the external, GRUB would not load i.e. I was not able to load any OS.
Under this confusion I also thought I had lost Vista as GRUB showed XP (which I didn't have), Vista was under the name Windows recovery. I could have probably found this out if I had googled it, but I have Vodacom 3G and it didn't want to connect in Ubuntu, I probably needed Wine so I could use the Vodacom panel but still difficult if you don't know much of what your doing without internet access.
After some fiddling I found Vista, replaced GRUB with the Windows boot loader. I still need to remove Ubuntu from the external before installing on my internal hard drive, any help with this? I'm tired and hungry so I don't want to look into this now.
I should have done as friend said and just booked a day where I wont have much work to do, sit down at the university and proceed to install Ubuntu then as I will access to the internet there
