Installing XP on a SATA drive

Just a quick note..no, i'm not arguing...just merely pointing out: the A8N SLi Deluxe has 2 raid controllers - the NVRAID, which you have disabled and also Silicon Image controller. If you haven't come right on the other sites let me know. I'll see if I can find my disk somewhere to make an image for you. Didn't see it, but I'm sure I have it somewhere in a box.

Hi guys

Thanks for all the replies. werner, those drivers you pointed to me worked - thanks. But.. XP setup detects my drive as a +-130GB drive (can't remember the exact size). I then booted up off my old SATA drive (the new one I bought is a Seagate 300GB SATA II) and formatted the new drive with Partition Magic.

It displayed two partitions on the drive, one which XP setup had created and the other was not formatted. I deleted both and formatted and the drive showed up as +-286GB (which is correct I assume).

So, after all that, I have XP installed on "half" my drive. I'll have to install Partition Magic and merge that other partition with the one that has XP installed.

What a mission..

:)

Hey .geek Check out this Link

Try and download the raid drivers and make the stiffy, see if you can't use those drivers at the windows setup F6, You'll see on the screenshots if you scroll down, there's a driver that says Nvidia Nforce Storage Controller, use that one to get windows setup going :)

Hope it works dude

Thanks teraside.

If I remember correctly, "Nvidia Nforce Storage Controller" was one of the "devices" that I could choose to install from the original driver disk (stiffy) that I got with my motherboard. There were two, I can't remember the other.

I'll give it a try tonight.

Appreciate the reply Azrael. The drivers on the link that teraside posted are the ones that were on the original disk (not 100% sure of the version etc, but the names are the same).

yes but thats pre sp2

go and find yourself a cd with sp2 on it

ask someone to copy it for you

its not illegal to do that

I agree with the guys, rather slipstream your xp cd.

Read this Guide

All you need is service pack 2 and your original xp disc and an empty cd :)

slipstream .... F6 drivers ...... **** all that : use Nemesis

I didn't say that !
