Basically about Outsurance, not sure who you are using. What are the primary functions of an insurance assessor? Is it only to assess damage or does he play a role in the initial appraisal of risk?
An assessor can perform both roles. We split the functions but there is obvious overlap in their expertise. The (upfront) risk assessor understands the cover options, the risk set up and risk management aspects.
The claims assessor will in essence focus on the claim situation (what happened, where, when, how) and will determine whether it fits within the scope of cover and what the repair (or replacement) cost is. This assessor may also offer risk management advice post the claim.

Hi Guys,
My tv went black and stopped working, logged a claim with Discovery and the assessor is coming through today to check my TV out. Silly question but what is he coming to do exactly?![]()
thanks guys, oh dam hope I can claim for it as to buy a new TV is sure expensive........
The assessor will check the cause of the damage and confirm the make/model of the item and whether it's correctly insured/if the policy covers what has been claimed.Insurance isn't a warranty.

They also do spot lie detector tests in case fraudulent claims are being submitted, they have been known to bring the police in to make an arrest if the lie detector test is failed. I'd have your lawyer on quick dial if I was you.

Quick fall against the TV to make sure you can claim. He is coming to see what caused the fault. If it just died due to malfunction, no claim for you. If you fell against it or the roof leaked maybe you'd have a claim.
