Insurance for Mechanical Breakdown

Hi folks. Times are tough now and I would like to keep my car for longer but am afraid of the unexpected costs of a mech and elec failure. My car is out of motor plan. Around 130000kms and 2010 mercedes model.

Any advice for me?

Yup. Won't cover everything, but it will help immensely. You also need a mechanic who knows how to deal with these insurance companies and structure the claim to benefit you maximally.

You need to be better prepared in terms of personal finance. I'm talking about an emergency fund especially for your car.

I save a lot of money by driving older cars (out of motorplan) that I buy for cash. I keep about R30k aside per car per year in case of non-standard maintenance.
