I have a physical one when I bought my house, not that the coc is worth anything the electrician in question failed to pick up something pretty bad. I now need to go through the process of reporting the ****.

Some companies are better than others, but these inspection guys rush through their inspections and often only pick up obvious faults. It's impossible to pick up every single little thing in the half hour to an hour they often take to do an inspection. But yeah, the main value of a COC seems to be more administrative than anything else.

I insured mine. No extra premium for the panels, just made sure the sum insured for the building is adequate

Yeah, but this fault wasn't exactly minor, my solar installer picked it up.

No excuse for not checking this old meter/mains connection breaker outside. If the inspector had checked if the wires were secure there would be no arcing and no melting as seen above. So he can sell his body on Oxford to survive for all I care.

Is that where eskom feeds in? I thought the meter box and its contents were eskom/municipality property, so it has no bearing on you, and any damage needing replacements requires eskom/municipality to fix.

This is attached to the side of my house, I have no idea who's responsibility it is. But be that as it may, the electrician should have still picked it up.

Looks like that is inside the elec meter box which the muni is the only one allowed access too so you're breaking the law opening it.

No, it's not, this box does not have the meter and is inside my property. The meter is situated in a community box on someone else's driveway.

The breaker looks like mine when I opened my box (to put a clamp meter on to measure the current (Spinning meter and breaker inside the same box)) which is outside the kitchen.

Yeah maybe the meter was there at some point many years ago. But it’s definitely not there anymore and now a smart meter
