My friend need advice he bought a second hand car he took insurance for the car. The is nothing wrong with the car but when he looked closely under the bumper, he discovered the car has been in an accident. But the is nothing wrong with the car so he want to know should he tell insurance or not to disclose this information. It look like it was a minor accident it didn't affect the engine and one thing for sure the accident was not recorded.

Hmm

If it wasn't logged as an accident then it may not have been. He can inform insurance of that however. If the car wasn't recorded in an accident they may just ignore it, but they won't repair anything due to what happened with the car. So if something breaks because of that, it's not their responsibility. Also insurance will only really fix if it gets in an accident in the future and they won't cover any wear and tear or damages from a previous accident. Your friend has a claim from the previous owner unless he bought the vehicle voetstoots. Which is as is. If he bought it from a dealer he may request from them to get it fixed properly.

Most dealers are sneaky and the easiest way to see if accident damage is to look at the paintwork or the windows. Original windows carry a code that can be found. When they replace it they don't re add the code. So check if windows are different. I had a dealer tell me the car was never involved in an accident but the paint colour was different on the one door and it's windows didn't match up. I knew he was lying. So I left it.

You must always disclose to your insurers. Tell them you didn't spot it before but now you did. It will give you less hassles later on. Insurance knows that not all people know what to look for.

No damaged on the car the only thing we picked up they change the bumper the car is metal silver, the bumper was blue and resprayed. He does not want to claim for anything he just worried this may cause problems later, if he is involved in an accident. The car has a full service history by Ford. He bought the car from a private seller apparently the seller was relocating to Australia.
