We have been developing a Java based web app for a client and they have decided they want to use Pastel as their Accounting app. Went onto the Pastel site where a sales guy had told us there is an SDK we can use for the integration. Lo and behold the SDK is written in and for .Net applications. So does anyone have any experience in updating Paste lfrom a java-based application? Is there any way we can write a flat file and import it into Pastel? Can we write direct to the pastel database as well?

Any help would be most appreciated

OK, Im sure there is someone here that knows more than I do about Pastel integration but heres what I know:

You can write a flat csv file and use batch import to pull the transactions into pastel. I havent actually done this from the pastel front end, I just got a spec for an app that told me how to create the file, and the Pastel user pulled it into Pastel. The details of the formatting of the file etc. are in the Pastel documentation, where I dont know, I last used it 3 years ago.

By Pastel I presume you mean Pastel Partner(Express has the same db engine etc.) and not Pastel Evolution. If you want to connect directly to the database, you can connect to the Pervasive server (Partner & Express) or the SQL Server(Evolution). Again, all the details of tables and columns is somewhere in the documentation.

Will see if I can find the info for you, but cant make any promises. ;)
