Intel and AMD today announced the formation of an x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group aimed at countering the threat from Arm.

Intel and AMD today announced the formation of an x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group aimed at countering the threat from Arm. The group will focus on ways to expand the x86 processor architecture in the modern era.

“We are on the cusp of one of the most significant shifts in the x86 architecture and ecosystem in decades – with new levels of customization, compatibility and scalability needed to meet current and future customer needs,” Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said “We proudly stand together with AMD and the founding members of this advisory group, as we ignite the future of compute, and we deeply appreciate the support of so many industry leaders.”

Pat Gaysinger owes me a new i9 14900KS CPU.

They did not accept a replacement request due to a 'parallel import'.

I promptly switched to AMD but after seeing that ass-ugly lady in the photo above, I am tempted to burn my 9950X and go with ARM.

I'm married to x86 for a while because some of the stuff I need for work is unusable on ARM, so I'm still here rooting for Lunar Lake.

From what i hear, Lunar Lake or if I am not understanding corrrectly, the Core Ultra processors? are not very good for gaming. They are beasts in Production and other uses though.

I am not a gamer so no biggie for me. And what little gaming I do is on an XBox.

But I like the reviews that Asus Core Ultra Series 2 laptops are getting. I am looking to see what they're like when they land in SA. I've been a Windows Desktop/M1 Mac laptop guy for a while, and thinking of switching the laptop back to Windows/Core Ultra.

Forgetting that back when I started in this game, we had development boards, from the likes of Intel, Motorola, etc..
But there's this fabulous pretense that nothing existed before 2009.
