So this is a problem:

So to run Windows 11, and Valorant, I have to buy a TPM 2.0 module on top of the purchase. That sucks!
This explains why some shops are not selling Gigabyte anymore and moreover why these systems cannot be upgraded past Win10

You know that TPM can be built into either CPU or chipsets? Intel has something called PTT, and AMD has something called fTPM. The TPM, you think must be purchased separately is discreet. This has now long been around, for Intel since the 8th generation.

Stop speaking nonsense.

Your are mistaken :) You don't need to purchase a TPM module for Windows 11, all newer Gigabyte boards going back to 8th Gen on the Intel side and Ryzen 2000-series (I think) can run Windows 11.

As mentioned above, Intel has PTT (Platform Trust Technology) which has the same credential management capabilities of discrete TPM - it's a firmware-level TPM, which is cheaper than discrete TPM (but has the downside of being more vulnerable to attack).

All of this is true regardless of Gigabyte, MSI, Asus, etc.

The interesting part of PTT is that it has been implemented since Intel's 4th generation, but it wasn't broadly adopted. Intel just standardised it from their 8th generation. PTT and fTPM are just firmware level TPM. For the everyday user, PTT and fTPM are perfectly fine, but if you are in an enterprise with data at risk, then it is best to adopt TPM modules for best practices. The majority of integrated enterprise hardware features soldered-on TPM modules. Being discreet, it is isolated (sort of).

I don't know how people confuse this all the time. Besides, if you have a 4th gen Intel system, you can still bypass TPM checks. It is not a true requirement, but not all functionality, requiring cryptographic keys, of security will be available.

If your CPU does not support POPCNT CPU (part of the SSE4.2 instruction set), then you can not, and should not upgrade or install Windows 11 24h2. Nvidia drivers since 555 (I think) also stopped support for POPCNT CPU. Anyone running a new GPU on an old processor like that needs to be in Arkham Asylum.

Fun though, Linux have recently dropped an updated driver for AMD (then ATI's) Terrascale. That is the old HD 4000 series.

I have a fairly recent board here next to me my friend. It has no TPM, instead it has a header. (Mid 2018 Intel board).
There is no TPM in the BIOS, nor can Win11's installer see it.
My older workhorse machine only has TPM 1.2
This chip, I found out, is made by Infineon and is on the board somewhere in discrete form.
