My client wanted one because of the size (travels a lot and with baggage weight restrictions, this one is perfect)

Compare the specs against the other offerings and you will see this has the best specs of the lot.

PM your e-mail address and I will send you the comparison I did for the client last month.

These nice specs come at a premium.. The price I found for the above netbook is R5820 (incl VAT).
More than double than the cheapest offering!
I guess it depends what your budget's like.

Thats not full HD

Full HD is 1920x1080

You are quite correct.

However if you check the Asus website in the link I added :
Enjoy Full HD 1080p video playback on an HDTV or big screen via an HDMI port.

This probably refers to the HDMI port on the device so although you don't get FULL HD on the internal screen you do on the external HDMI port.

Thanks! Will check them as well.

Just another query: what is the difference between the LED (Backlit) and the LCD screens? would it make a difference at 10.1''? Which one is the better option?

I've noticed a really cheap one on the www.cafeviva.co.za website going for R1899!

This is the site for the specs: http://www.isonic.co.za/ce269.htm

That iSonic seems like the biggest load of carp.

I bought a Lenovo S10e with 6 cell battery 2nd hand (1 month old) for R2k so keep a look out for bargains.

The ATOM processor is very capable for the tasks it was built for but don't expect it to encode video like a quad core though. I have XP home on it and it is no slouch.

Use it for browsing web, handling large downloads, entertainment on long flights and trips(6 hour battery life is awsome)

The light is provided by LEDs rather than CCFLs (fluorescent lamps), biggest advantage is probably the power savings/longer battery life.

I wonder what the details are on that - or if it realises on the TV to upscale 720p to 1080p. My 3Ghz, 4GB Ram desktop struggles with a 8GB 1080p vdeo at full res.

Not a bad netbook for R+- 5000.

I've got a Dell mini 311. (Atom with the Ion Graphics chip, 1366x something resolution)
Got it from Deon wired on special for R2500.
Got a HDMI port, with full HD output.
Just a pity the atom is a bit underpowered to play Full HD content. (4Gb+ files)
Running Ubuntu Linux.

Apparently it's better for eyes too...
But mostly it's newer and better technology so it's always a bonus getting an LED

It can play 720P video and even some 1080P stuff with the right drivers, and media player classic under Windows 7.

Damn that is a good deal.

Yes option 1 is the fastest, the Intel ULV is faster than Atom. It also has a much higher resolution screen which helps a lot.

+1
Option 1 looks good. Better CPU, bigger screen, better resolution.
Will probably get better performance with Windows 7 though - Vista is quite a resource hog
