Intel confirms it will launch discrete graphics cards in 2020

Intel has confirmed that development of its upcoming discrete graphics cards is on track and that it will launch its GPU products in 2020.

Speaking in an interview with HotHardware, Intel Visual Technologies Team general manager Ari Rauch said that Intel's first discrete graphics products will be available in 2020, adding that the company will launch GPUs for both consumer and server applications.

I like this.

For one, more competition is better. I don't see them being competitive - at least not at the beginning - but it's at least another name to consider.

I'm more interested on what technologies they will develop. Optane being an example of how they introduce new tech or new methods.

They already do - just not x86 CPUs.

Lets see whether they will try and take on NV at the high end or just do like AMD and leave NV all alone at the high end.

Desperately need competition for NV at the top end. The rtx pricing has all to do with no competition to be seen anywhere.

I doubt it, at least not in the consumer space, Nvidia is so far ahead right now. I think Intel will primarily focus on the data centre.
