Intel DH77EB Motherboard & PCI E network cards, not working?

As per title.
Have the board + i7 3.5GHz.
Board only has PCI Express ports, so we bought two Mecer PCI Express cards. BIOS or Linux does not pick them up.

Done BIOS update to latest version.

Still does not pickup cards.

Bought two Edimax PCI Express network cards.

Same result.

Google not very helpfull.

Network cards works in another PC. USB 3 PCI Express card works in Intel board.

Disabled onboard LAN, still the same.

Any ideas?

MOBO might be faulty then. If you can try another PCIE card ie an rs232 card or modem just to make sure the ports are fine, if not then the board is shot.

Yip, did try that. USB 3 PCI Express card works. Even tried a graphics card and it works.

Take the cmos battery out diconnect power from the board & leave it for a while reconnect everything & then see what happens, sometimes you need to flush the system, had some boards that would only post for first time when the cmos battery was removed for 10 mins. (old msi athlon mobo's).
If that doesn't work then ill take the lot back to the supplier to sort out. Stock/OEM Intel boards might be nice as reference boards but I hate selling them to clients, there always seems to be a trick or hassle with them.
Had a client get a Bayfield board just for the pci slots for his camera system, it never worked. The board was replaced twice. I ended up giving him an AMD board with 3x pci slots, has had no issues yet.

Some PCI-Express network cards require at least three to four lanes of connectivity to work. As per Intel's specs:

Expansion capabilities

• One PCI Express 3.0 x 16 discrete graphics card connector
• Three PCI Express* 2.0 x 1 connectors
• One PCI Express Mini Card connector with support for mSATA Solid-State Drive

Its quite possible that you're using x4 add-in cards instead of x2 ones, in which case I'm guessing these cards are ones that pack more than one ethernet connector?

Edit: This network card would work. And so would this one. You never mentioned which exact cards you used, so this might be your problem.

If nothing else you try works, consider getting a better board that has regular PCI slots.

We are using the Mecer cards (not sure of their model) and the Edimax ED-EN9260TXE. Apparently they are just plug and play.

Hi McGuywer,
I referred your problem to one of my technical colleagues who knows more about this than I do.
His suggestion is to flush the BIOS on the motherboard and then update to the latest version before doing anything else.

Problem is that is a clients machine and we need to deliver it today. We actually got USB network cards.
