BIOS does not detect any sata HDD/SSD installed.

System boots fine from USB.

Once booted from usb, HDD/SSD is detected and can install an OS on it. After reboot, 'A bootable device has not been detected'.

BIOS has been reset and updated, no change.

Same with either Legacy or UEFI mode selected.

What OS are you trying to load? Are you sure the drive is is listed in the boot sequence?

Make sure sata is enabled.

Check if secure boot is on or not

Sata is enabled. Tried with and without secure boot, makes no difference. Also tried different sata cable. Tried powering drive with a desktop psu, get same error message. Tried 3 different ssd's and 2 hdd's, none show up in BIOS.

It's the motherboard for the record. I had to ship a Intel nuc to Intel to get it replaced because of the exact same issue. It happens randomly on the nucs

Yup it was the same model too as the one I sent in. So sadly better to contact Intel support. We had to pay to get it resolved but they did resolve it

Yes, seems that way. Also saw a few others with similar error.

Was hoping someone may have found an easier solution. Will try a few diy solutions, not worth paying for a repair on such an old device.

Maybe the sata port is faulty or something not lekker with the chipset. I see the manual also refers to a M.2 sata (looks like it might be used by a wifi card)?

Most likely chipset or firmware fault, sata drives show up and work fine once booted into an OS. It does have an M.2 wifi card.
