Gaming is gaming. Steam is also not the only option to play games. You can get them on disk format. And there is also Gamergate. GOG also carries newer titles too, chiefly CD Projekt games.

Thing is still I discovered more musicians and bands using Deezer and now using Google Play Music then using any other channel including radio over the years. Also just because one or two old bands and Taylor Swift is not on streaming services we now automatically surrender to big corporations :wtf: View attachment 169605
Anyway it's the artists and bands themselves that don't want to get with the times. No worries for me though I can upload 20 000 songs with Gplay Music and Deezer also allows you to upload mp3's.

Point is for a low monthly fee I can listen to all music without the need to queue torrents, remove all the release group spam from the ID tags, integrating high quality artwork and at the end trying to keep that in sync across all my devices. With most resent releases costing R139+ on itunes that is already a two month subscription with Deezer and you have R20 to spare. So just buying six albums a year it's already more beneficial to go with streaming services.

Look dude, I respect your opinion. Simfy does not carry stuff you enjoy. That's fair. What I don't agree with is this copying of corporate, marking hype some like to do. Everyone is not the same. Some of us want to store stuff offline. Some of us are happy with our computers. Everyone is different. It's nice that online streaming services exist, but they're not for everyone. People need to become more tolerant and respectful of others usage.

No it's not a strawman. I used your criteria. You said 256GB is enough based on some subjective criteria. Because you can keep stuff in the cloud. And if you need more then you're a hoarder. Those were words you used. Or you may need more if you're a video editor.

With a fast enough connection, and that's subjective too, it becomes evident that 64GB can be fast enough, again based on subjective preferences. 64GB is enough for Windows 7, Office Pro Business and you have enough space to install one STEAM game with some space left to spare for memory swap. One can then delete and redownload the game whenever one needs.

All of this hinges on subjective criteria. Point is that I'm using your criteria as applied when these criteria are modified to user preferences. There is no strawman.

You just refuse to see that you using subjective criteria to pull the 256GB SSD out of your thumb is special pleading on your behalf. Yes 256GB is enough because it works for Chevron with his b/w speed and his attention span of game playing and his selection of games he enjoys. None of this is set in stone. It's all subjective. What is perhaps set in stone is the disk space needed for an operating system. Win 7 will install and leave plenty of room to spare on a 64GB SSD. I have such a machine with Windows, Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro and some other stuff and have 20GB or more left over to install a STEAM game if I so wish.

OK, but then that gives us more reason not to rely on STEAM for gaming on Macs.

Maybe it's the corporates. Maybe it's the artists. I don't know. I know that one set of corporates is also pushing streaming services. Someone is promoting that stuff. And yes that stuff is great, if you enjoy the selection of indie stuff, great for you.

It depends what value you attach to your music experience. If you absolutely love one particular band, or a selection of songs, you may prefer to have a smaller library of music you own then access to a potentially huge library but of stuff you have yet to discover. And at the end you still may want those songs which elude you, the stuff you enjoy listening to .

But whatever works for you. Point is that there is no right answer for everyone. Everyone is different.

But at least you're not a Chevron who says 256GB is enough for everybody unless you're some video/photo editor.

What does insurance have to do with the offline/online discussion? Hardware that gets stolen will need to be replaced either way, but offline stuff that gets stolen can't be replaced via insurance.
