Back in the day I have 2MB I would look at specs of high end workstation machines from SUN Microsystems. There were CAD and medical imaging systems which had 256MB RAM and some even had 512MB RAM. This was of course 1993 or 4.

Thing is that I doubt we'll see reliable connections like that for now 4K content which is next, and then Super Hi Vision (8K).

Maybe you're young. You don't have much stuff at home. Not much storage. I have a huge library of DVDs and BDs and much of that is rare stuff. NF doesn't have most of it. Cloud is just not an option.

I have plenty of old crap I have collected. All goes into storage or gets given away. No need for it anymore.

Quality is 576p/480p/1080p which you won't get with NF.

Get CS6 man. You are light years behind the times. Even casual photographers can benefit hugely from the Content Aware fill and better layout. Creative Cloud Photography is $10pm - perfectly reasonable imo.

Not for me, I want to load everything on it and I kinda do have a data cap. 30GB a game would exhaust it in a week.

It would make no sense downloading all your games in one week, or even one month, because you can't play so many games. Just download them around the time you purchase them and create a Steam backup. You can store the backups on another drive.

I have STEAM. I got it for a little game called Chantelise. Otherwise it loads up here and hogs attention at startup. I'm going to uninstall it. I prefer GOG.com. Even with STEAM you may want to play several games at once. On the PS systems I have 4 or 5 games I casually delve into.

A 64GB SSD with Win 7 and Office 365 should have enough space to download and install one STEAM game. Then when you're bored with that- just delete it- save your save game files I guess online or offline - and play the next game. When you've had enough, just redownload. Then after a week delete that and redownload that. And if you have a 10mbit/sec "business" account, you can probably download the same gave every few days and there's no need for a bigger SSD at all. I have no idea why he thinks 256GB is even necessary, he must be a hoarder of cat videos and pics. All that pu$$y.

It works great. In fact my system can't go with a CC version as I run Snow Leopard with an ancient Mac Pro. It's still fast enough for editing huge uncompressed 10bit Tiff images and CAF and scratch removal works great. Of course you have to gain knowledge how to use these tools but once you get enough practice you can get results which are more than satisfactory.

I may go with the new Adobe when I need Premiere. Right now happy with Final Cut Pro 7.x and the purchased plugins I have for it which I would all lose if I went with a newer version. Also may not work with SL.

I have 14GB of RAM in the system and never get out of ram errors.

Steam doesn't run at boot unless you set it to. It has never done so for me. Your statements about Steam and PS make little sense so I can't comment on them. GOG is not really a rival to Steam. It mostly carries older titles.

You don't need subscriptions to Simfy, Rdio, Deezer, Grooveshark etc. - any one is adequate. I prefer Simfy personally. It's also not fair to compare the DRM to buying a single album elsewhere. Simfy costs less than a single CD per month and gives you open access to over 20 million tracks. They have apps on every platform, your playlists are always in sync across all of them and you can download anything you want for offline listening. It's phenomenal value. It would cost me a fortune to buy all the new music I discover every month through Simfy.

I suppose if you're a very casual Photoshop user then CS4 is fine. But beyond that, CS6 is a huge improvement.

When it comes to cloud gaming, it's BS hype.

Yes maybe it works for tiny browser based games.

But even for larger iOS games. The three im@s games from Namco Badai. They have 20 songs which come with each game. Except only 10 are permanent. 10 need to be redownloaded periodically in the DLC store because Namco Bandai thinks that the 3GB size of the game is too big. These games are 3GB each. So they force you to redownload the non-permanent songs every 6 months or so, even if you play them regularly. And it's a PITA because the download is slow, it disconnects frequently with a fail message and requires several key presses to restart.

No one plays 10 games at the same time. Just keep the 3/4 games that usually play. The rest can be downloaded as needed.

It runs by default on the OS X version like that. I never set it this way.


Gaming is gaming. Steam is also not the only option to play games. You can get them on disk format. And there is also Gamergate. GOG also carries newer titles too, chiefly CD Projekt games.

The idea was that not everything is carried by one hence Chevron brought up multiple sources. And one can also buy the song on iTunes too for $1.99 or 0.99. Not everything is for purchase. Not everything is available in our region. Phenomenal value is cool if you listen to whatever music comes your way. If you discern what you listen too, it's not value when 99.9% of the stuff you find no interest in. Unless you're all for surrendering personal choice and taste to the corporations. Let them decide for you. Do you promote this corporations can decide for us what we should listen to view?

I don't want to say if we're casual here, but we've used PS for several exhibitions and the work compared to "pro" level exhibitions was superior. Not all is bling.
