Been donated Server case board etc. Lockdown had me out of IT, off the sites and doing all sort of any work - some now ended too with the latest round.

Can’t fire it up - getting beep code 1 5 4 2 sequence.
Had 2 x 2Gb Ram chips in various positions.
HD OK - fires up the Linux is in another machine.
Of familiar with this board and operation.

On/off switch connects to point on back of server case.

Have attached relevant pics.

Not sure where to start - any help would be appreciated.

How to fix it

  • Ensure that no loose standoff contacts the chassis, which would therefore cause grounding. This scenario is especially true with brand-new system integrations.
  • Remove and reinsert the power supply or power supplies.
  • See to it that both Central Processing Unit 1 (CPU1) and Central Processing Unit 2 (CPU2) power connectors are connected even if there isn't a second processor installed.
  • If your system supports dual or redundant power supplies, start your computer using a single power supply.
  • Test one processor at a time if your board has two.

Thanks Rickster
It’s not at my place and I last saw the CPU fan mounting clips had damage.
Blobs and blobs of thermal pasture so I suspect someone took out the chip and replaced with a dud or incompatible. Hopefully i can get there again in a couple of weeks - it was given to me in return for fixing up two towers that they sold.
