My intel xeon server with server board SE7320SP2 is shutting down at random times.

The funny thing is, it gives a very soft beep every 2 seconds or so and after a 10-20 minutes it shuts down.

Any ideas what could be causing this ? Or where the fault might be ?

Might be a good idea to run the Platform Confidence Tests (PCT) on the board to see if it can find a fault (run the full test with looping). Should be on the CD you got with the MB or can be downloaded from the Intel site. That's quite an old board is it not? Might just be showing its age :)

Check the power supply? Those beeps sound ominous...

Even get a multimeter and hook it to your supply lines to check if the voltage is stable.

Old power supplies (that have aging caps) let through the high frequency components (positive and negative) and this could be confusing or even hurting your board.

My suggestion, try another PSU if you have one around.

I did some reading on this board.
At the back there is 6 LED's (most servers will have them) when the peeping starts have a look at them.
I found the manual here http://jp.superuser.co.kr/home/lecture/files/7525gp2.pdf
On page 46 is the error codes for the LED's.
Try and see if that helps.

I did read in the manual that 2 beeps post boot can be a memory parity error. Maby try and run memtest overnight to see if it works (start it and remove the CD so if the server reboots it wont restart memtest).
