Fastest solid-state drive on the market.

Solid-state drives may be the future of mass storage, but right now, the price per gigabyte ratio is unfavourable versus traditional magnetic drives. While pricing has come down and will continue to drop in the future, we are still not at the point where what is offered by SSDs outweighs the costs - at least not for the average user.

The Intel X25-M, then, has its work cut out for it if it is to stand above other SSDs on the market. With a relatively high price-per-gigabyte ratio of about R90/GB, it’s far from being practical. However, when dealing with SSDs, the number one reason to purchase one is usually performance and to some degree reliability, as SSDs can withstand more shock than traditional drives.

We are more concerned with performance, however, and this is where the Intel X25M shines. It has incredible read speeds, measuring over 200MB/sec, and write speeds far above anything else on the market – over 100MB/sec
most of the time.

Add the ‘0ms’ access time, and you have the fastest drive money can buy.

It’s not cheap by any means, but if performance is what you need above all else, the Intel X25-M SSD is the drive for you.
