Tell me what one would u recommend out of these 2 is there other ones I should look at. Can't use google at the moment(capped). This is the first time I am going Intel so don't really know what there all about.
Mostly used for gaming, movies, music and the odd Gimp work.Budget about R3000+- Cpu and MB

Intel E3110 Xeon for LGA775 - dual core 3.0ghz box cpu , with VT , 45nm , Lga775 , 1333mhz fsb - 2x64k L1+ shared 6mb L2 cache - with EiST, EM64T

Intel Core2 Duo E8500 - dual core 3.16ghz box cpu , with VT+TXT , 45nm , Lga775 , 1333mhz fsb - 2x64k L1+ shared 6mb L2 cache - with EDB , EiST, EM64T , WDE , ASC , SMA , ADMB, 128bit SSE4

And this motherboard supports both right?

I'd personally go for the Core2 Duo E8500 - AFAIK they're basically identical. Just that one is named under Core2 Duo, the other is under Intel Xeon.

The E8500 is definitely supported by the Neo-F board. the E3110 should work though.

It would seem like the board supports both. Only difference between the two is that the Xeon supports Accelerated IO and a ~1.5W lower thermal spec. Otherwise seems to be a dead even, if you plan on getting another Xeon and a dual socket mobo at a later time pick the Xeon otherwise go for the Core2 Duo

Xeon is server based therefore can handle higher stress at better temps and volts than the core2, i would go for the Xeon

p.s. 775 xeons can not do dual socket they are single socket only

its a no-go for dual socket on those Xeon's. They are LGA775, not LGA771.

The LGA775 Xeon is basically a Xeon sticker on a Core 2Duo. It fools the unwitting buyer into thinking he is buying a serious "Xeon Workstation" at a cheap price.

Its all marketing, dont fall for it.

BTW, have you seen you can get a Q6600 for the price of a E8500 these days

Yeah I did see but as it is there is not that I know of games that support so many cores so its not going to help. And by the time I upgrade again then maybe games needs that many cores but for now those are mostly used by programs that can use that cores.

Thanks u made my choice easier.

Hahah yeah one of my pc(brothers) decided to download windows updates by itself lol
