Anyone used any Intellinet modems and our routers before. I am thinking of changing mines (I use the Telkom Premium Combo wireless modem/router) and have seen this one advertised.

Reliability, value for money, ease of use etc?

Thanks

Which one advertised?

WTF is a Intelligent modem/router?

/Thinks someone is being conned by cheap marketing.

I checked out Esquire's price list and noted that they stocked both Intellinet and D-Link modems/routers. Its not an Intelligent modem

The ones I am looking at are:

Intellinet Wireless 300N 4-Port 10/100 Broadband Router with three fixed dipole antennas with 3 dBi gain each, and
Intellinet WIireless Super G 108Mbps Router with 4-port 10/100 LAN Switch

Not at all familiar with Super G - but it seems to be more expensive than the 300N in spite of the lower speed.

Is it possible to supplement my existing modem/router with a separate router? My issue is that I dont have connectivity throughout the house - upstairs and in a furthest away b/room - so looking for a way to augment that existing signal. Others have mentioned an access point to me but this seems to be more expensive than a router.

I was quoted R1400 for a D-Link but this intellinet R599.
whats the difference between :
1). Intellinet Wireless 300N Access Point with 1-port RJ45 10/100Mbps ,MIMO, Bridge, Repeater, Multiple SSIDs and VLANs
2). Intellinet Wireless 300N PoE Access Point with 1-port RJ45 10/100Mbps ,MIMO, Bridge, Repeater, Multiple SSIDs and VLANs
3). Intellinet Wireless 300N 4-Port 10/100 Broadband Router with three fixed dipole antennas with 3 dBi gain each

My setup is adsl directly from PC to modem with ethernet cable, PS3 in next room, and other PC upstairs at the other end of the house. PS3 will have to share internet connection AND data (movies, mp3's, photos) and upstairs PC will only share internet. PS3 has wi-fi but for upstairs PC I will get a wireless-n PCI card for around R300. Am i on the right track ? I was told to stay away from USB devices as they are unstable.

Or must I rather save up fot the D-link ?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

I've used them. Not bad. I have one of their adsl 2+ jobbies at home. It's pretty stable and supports bridge mode, etc.

@ponder - It's Intellinet, not Intelligent :p

Sold me on it, Esquire has it on special for R499, will pick one up on Friday then :)

I bought the Intellinet Wireless 300N ADSL 2+ Modem Router from Esquire and I have to admit I was going to ask some questions the other day as I was wondering if there was something wrong with it....

This is my first time using wireless in my home environment and hence my first wireless router. Now the issue I am getting every so often is losing the wireless connection. This happens on both my laptop and the PC so I'm assuming the problem can't lie with both of them but must be with the router.

When I check the router all the relevant lights are on but the wireless connection is not found on the computers. I end up having to restart the router, sometimes more than once, before the connection is picked up again.

This sometimes happens at random times when it is only me connected using my laptop, like this morning, but at other times it seems to happen when I try to connect my phone for instance.

Is this a problem with the Intellinet wireless router?

Looks like I might need to start a separate thread to see if I get an answer... unless there are genuinely no technical folk left on here as they have been replaced by political folk!
