Intense cold front expected

My car said 14°C earlier - but still it's chilli today, though it's definitely not such an "intense" cold front that was predicted.

Exactly, aside form the fact that there was flooding in areas which usually flood, I was expecting more, the cold front dumped all its rain yesterday afternoon.

Occasional breeze in Oudtshoorn. But still sunny. Very pleasant day so far ballasbakking on N-facing upstairs balcony. Had to put on some sunscreen half an hour ago when wife arrived with two boerewors rolls. Will shortly call for beer.

It's times like this I'm glad to have emigrated from Gowteng. And you Capies are welcome to the wind and rain and that perpetually-looming mountain. :p

LIGHT SNOWFALLS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT

Light snowfalls are expected over the Drakensberg, Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal mountains on Saturday night, the SA Weather Service said.

"By tonight [Saturday evening] light snowfalls are expected over southern Drakensberg into Lesotho spreading to the KwaZulu-Natal region," forecaster Edwin Thema said.

He said the cold front, which made landfall in the Western Cape around Friday afternoon, was currently over the Eastern Cape.

It would later spread across the Free State and the Northern Cape.

"[Expect] light showers over most of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape," Thema said.

The Western Cape would experience very cold conditions and isolated showers.

By Sunday morning, the cold front would cover KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and the North West.

"Southern parts of Gauteng are expected to experience low minimums by tomorrow [Sunday] evening."

Thema said most of the country would experience cold conditions as a result of the cold front.

Breezy?! ... could have sworn I just saw a Hadeda flying backwards :D

Worked in PE for two years and calm days could be counted on one hand...so when they say it's 'breezy', they mean a gale

Yep. I remember back in the day when I was there - if you went outside and there was no wind blowing or howling it felt ominous. Like as if it is literally the calm before the storm :p

Dees cold front thing they speek of is diskriminatian, it neva come too Debbin!

Windless overcast day with a bit of spitting but not cold. Barefoot with baggies & t-shirt outside sipping on a cold one while peparing offerings of litlle lambs to the gods on my caveman fire!
