Had a bad experienced with Intercape when paying online with my credit card . The money was deducted from my bank account the day before travel, however you will be unable to board the bus if you do not have your credit card with you.
Despite having my identity card, drivers license and print out of the payment transaction when attempting to board the bus, the driver informed me I needed the credit card which was used to purchase the bus ticket. However as I did not have the card on me (the card is unfortunately recently damaged) boarding would be denied and I would be fully refunded.
After registering my complaint with the Intercape call center you receive a reference number via sms of your complaint, which informs you will be contacted within 7 days. After the seven days expired I contacted Intercape again. Several calls later I established Intercape would not refund any money and would not offer a voucher or complementary travel ticket instead as a fair settlement.
The credit card transaction was completed on the day prior to traveling, therefore the money would had been in the Intercape account a full 12 hours before boarding. A credit card payment facility is supposed to be safe secure and fast. When you make a payment using your credit card (especially an online transaction) payment is made immediately if the funds are available in your account. I personally pay for goods and services around the world from purchases on Amazon.com for books or electronic gadgets from Hong Kong on ebay. Intercape must have an inferior reservation and payment system, which I as the customer have now been left out of pocket. I feel this is fraud, despite all the small print in the terms and conditions. I paid for a service, was refused the service and informed I would not receive a refund in any way or form.
In my opinion Intercape operates an inferior payment and bus service. The buses are regularly more than 30 minutes late (Their terms & conditions ensure the company is not liable for anything ) Intercape changes the services offered online after the booking is confirmed, while the Intercape lost luggage liability does not exceed R.50 per consignment (which is a joke!)
If you have the opportunity use alternative transport or another company!
