Does one get interim or bridging medical aid ?

We resigned our medical aid and are in a waiting period for the new one, but may need to incur medical expenses.

Assuming the expenses to be incurred are substantial can you not reinstate your old one until the new one comes into effect?

I am not too knowledgeable about this (obviously)!

The 30 day notice period for the old one has already expired; can one still reinstate it and is there generally a cost (other than the premium)?
