The other day I requested the last 3 month of my bank transactions so that I could sign up for a contract.

Today I see I was charged R49 for those free papers with a bank stamp on them. Is that really the price, and where can a few those specific rates.

Last time I did something like that I could of sworn is was under R15.

I had to request mine as well a few months ago. When you have no other choice then that's the rate they can charge.

Did the consultant tell you up front about the costs involved?

Just download the statements from online banking for free and print them. It looks exactly like the statements sent via post.

Don't print the transaction history as you will need the bank to stamp them.

The last time I tried this method, Vodacom accepted it, but Wesbank had a problem with them and requested the documents to be from the bank itself with an accompanying stamp (even though they are a division of FNB/RMB - go figure)

If you go to the FNB bank tellers, this is what they charge. However, if you speak to the consultant at the front, there is a free alternative you're advised to use. With the on-site Internet banking computers, you log in and print your statements on the printers. Then the customer care consultant takes them behind the counter and stamps them for you. I've done this same thing at multiple FNBs in both Cape Town and Johannesburg.

This is the solution, you have to use the free kiosks to print, they won't stamp it if you printed outside the branch...

You can print via the atm? Comes with stamp and all, unless this is only a Standard bank thing

FNB ATMs can do statements, but they're on a thinner kind of paper and not stamped. I'm reasonably sure Standard ones aren't stamped either: how would that work anyway? A little bank authorised rubber stamp coming down on every page just before it pops out?

SBSA and ABSA as far as I know. FNB hasn't gotten that functionality yet. Probably still enjoying charging clients $$$ to do it at the tellers :crylaugh:

All stamped from ATM.

Nope they're stamped, did it in August

save your monthly statements on your pc, and when someone asks for statements (no matter how old, just get stamps at any branch). They charge per printout

They normally want stamped or posted - which is stupid, but print them out staple them and fold them to look like they've come out of an envelope. Been accepted various times.. :)

From the Premier pricing guide:
Printing of statements – Branch and Telephone Banking: R13 (per page)
