Im new to this forum so someone is bound to have had the same problem.

Been with Telkom as a ISP for over a year and for the last 8 months I have had intermittant issues.

I have logged probably in the region of 40 faults and every time someone tells me the line is fine and then it will work for a couple of weeks.

2 weeks down it starts all over again... On off every 4 to 5 minutes. Very frustrating!!

So I have got a "IT" friend in and he looked at some stats.

Noise level fluctuates between 5.9 and 6dB and attentuation is 50.5dB.

He says that this is shocking and is likely causing the problem..

So anys suggestions as its impossible to get hold of Telkom!!

Thanks

Get Telkom to lower your sync rate. If you trying to sync at 10Mbps go down to 4Mbps if you are trying to sync at 4Mbps go down to 2Mbps. I doubt you trying to sync at 10Mbps because the max you could sync at with that attenuation is about 3Mbps max. Lowering your sync rate will improve SNR which will stop the line from dropping all the time.

Try Messaging TelkomZA on twitter or Telkom on their Facebook page they get the job done pretty quick.
