Intermittent ADSL drops...?

After trenching the cables, due to ongoing cable theft, my ADSL line was reactivated. However, since then it's been an ongoing agonising time of broken connectivity.

Basically the ADSL router un-syncs intermittently, mostly during business hours' peak times: 10am-4pm, and it's so bad sometimes that it's totally useless to try and use the 'net.
(Sometimes during early morning hours even???)

I've had no less than 5 techs out now to try and fix it, which is always a waste of time, due to it never being the same guy; always testing it with their own router, and disrupting my offices for 2 hours at a time... the last tech mentioned that he thinks the DSLAM needs replacing, but whether that was done I don't know, as they tend to disappear eventually, and report the fault resolved anyway.
Ive tried connecting the router to every point in the office, tried running it barebones without any filters or surge-protectors, unplugging all other phones and phone systems & devices, resetting the router to defaults, and setting up again... no joy.

4 Mb line, Telkom Internet, tried every DNS on the planet - Austin View AH, Midrand.

Anybody ever experience the same problem, that might have a possible solution? ..and please no stupid kiddy remarks like "don't use Telscum" - if there was another option, I'd be using it already.
(No Neofail coverage either, or ethernet port yet)

Edit: Could this just be the "peering issues" I've read about on these forums? Will the peering issues actually drop the connection (as in sync & PPP lights go off on router) or just no bandwidth?

I don't thing DNS will make a difference.

My line loses sync every now and then. Maybe once a day... (Usually when I'm winning in COD4. Blegh.)

I'll wait for it to get worse before torturing myself by phoning Telkom.
