I noticed since last night that every few mins (feels like 25-30 mins) there is a outage of 2-5 mins on my adsl line.

I can ping my server hosted at IS, but cant ping IS dns (168.210.2.2) or my intl server

A traceroute looks like this (internet came back half way)

xx-MacBook-Pro:~ xy$ traceroute -n xxx.xxx.co.za
traceroute to xxx.xxx.co.za (70.38.xx.xxx), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets
1 192.168.0.1 3.813 ms 1.193 ms 1.119 ms
2 196.210.145.129 9.559 ms 9.326 ms 9.149 ms
3 * 196.38.73.133 41.379 ms *

13 67.205.127.126 467.012 ms 491.234 ms 503.969 ms
14 70.38.xx.xxx 416.340 ms 419.244 ms 422.646 ms
done

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm getting the exact same issue, although I'm in Pietermaritzburg. Last night it started "dropping" every 20-30 minutes, and then at around 12PM it died completely for a few hours. The some intermittent connectivity problem has continued today as well.

It's worth mentioning that my line doesn't drop and that the PPP connection is still live, there's just no traffic coming back for about 2-3 minutes. It's happening on both Afrihost and an unshaped IS account. I haven't tried any others though, so perhaps it's IS related.

Edit: This thread seems similar, although their lines are dropping completely: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ages-twice-an-hour-anyone-have-the-same-issue

The weirdest thing, when its working, my time to the first hop outside my network is a lot longer!

When its not working 9ms to the next hop when its working next hop is 100-300ms
There isnt any traffic running through when i traceroute
