I’m having an intermittent problem connecting to the net and I would like to establish if the problem lies with my modem my line or Telkom. The last thunder storm was a bit too close for comfort, so I’m not ruling failing hardware out.

I will be connected when suddenly it will just drop off. The diagnostics tell me I have a DNS configuration problem?? (Although I haven’t touched any settings) Firefox gives the usual message “ Connection to the server has been reset....... network link interrupted while negotiating a connection” every time I try load a page.
It still gives me local access to my home network but no internet. If I leave it for a few hours or so it seems to sort itself out and comes back on line. It takes some time though and no amount of re-booting of router or PC helps while the problem persists.
Has anyone an idea what the problem might be. It’s driving me nuts!

Limited Connectivity

You're lucky that you have some connectivity - I have none on ADSL - since mid-day yesterday.

Have 3 different ADSL accounts - none of them connect.

Modem shows sync with the Line, but getting no connection.

I'm in Randburg - where are you ?

Probably a Telkom problem.

I hope it's a Telkom problem and a temporary one at that. I'm in Margate and half of Gauteng's here at the moment, so maybe the lines are just taking a bit of strain?
