High.

So basically, every now and again the net will just drop for me,the lights all go off on the router for a min or so and then promptly come back on.

Iv tried reseting, even tried on a clean installation of XP, but same problem every time after a few hours it will drop again and come back...

Contacted the ISP and they assure me it has not lost connection according to their information, so im really confused..

Any Ideas?

3) Log in on your ADSL modem's web interface and look for the ADSL statistics (line attenuations, SNR/noise margins, line speeds) and post them all here...

Okay think this is it ye?

DSP Firmware Version E.25.41.55 A
Connected true
Operational Mode G.Dmt
Annex Type AnnexA
Upstream 512000
Downstream 1024000
SNR Margin(Upstream) 14 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 23.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 21.5 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 37.0 dB
CRC Errors(Upstream) 108
CRC Errors(Downstream) 0
Latency(Upstream) Fast
Latency(Downstream) Fast

The router is an mweb Billion W40, I think I do have one of those POTS filters as well

Your stats looks perfect.

If you can, see if you can't borrow a friend's D-Link/TP-Link/Netgear 2xxx series ADSL modem?

If you pick up your phone and receive/make a call, does your ADSL drop? If it does not drop, then your filter is installed correctly.

Hi,

I had this same problem, I still had the old telkom 4 port Marconi router from eons ago. Mine started dropping adsl sync at irregular intervals. Its because the router can't cope with the speeds put out by the recent upgrades.

Sometime it would sync at the normal speed(6Mbps) with a good SNR ratio (40ish) others it would sync at 1Mbps and a SNR of 6(which is terrible).

I got a new router and seems to have sorted it out, so if your router is quite old, this may be your problem.
