We have 2 uncapped packages at 2 different sites which over the last week have had intermittent disconnects on the router (red light). When restarting the router (unplugging power) it comes back up. Over the weekend we chatted to someone else (also uncapped) who have had the exact same issue. They stay about 40km from us so unlikely a single tower. Anyone else having the same issue? I cannot confirm if the issue is related to a specific product (uncapped) or across the network as I have a capped 20/10 simcard in my phone that does not appear to have the same issue but then again mobile phones will likely work differently than the routers in relation to connections.

When we connect to the Huawei router via it's IP it indicates full 4G coverage but "disconnected", trying to click on connection does not appear to reconnect, only the power cycle resolves the issue.

We're on the Durban South Coast. I dont have the patience to chat to Telkom directly about this as past experiences have led to the same "shrug nothing is wrong" response by Telkom phone operators.

I know someone who lives on the north coast who got his uncapped package last week. Brand new router and sim. He's described the same problem and is assuming the router is faulty so he's taking it back to Telkom.

I think he's going to waste his time then. Maybe all the holiday folks is overloading the network but it seems to specifically affect uncapped services. Maybe an attempt by Telkom to save bandwidth by disconnecting users who use x bandwidth in a certain period of time. I've tried the unrestricted APN as well (because why not try) with no difference. We got disconnected at least every 2 hours yesterday. I can also confirm we're using the 2x B525's and our friends use the B315 router so not a specific model causing the issue.

Received my router from WebAfrica on Friday. Exact same issue. Glad to see I am not alone in this.

I'm in the Queensburgh area a little outside of Durban

edit - yes, I'm on the uncapped offering

The only consistency thus far has been that we're all getting this with the uncapped product as the Vaal is very far from the coast :) I wonder if Telkom is deliberately disconnecting uncapped users after 3 hours or so in an attempt to "pause" data usage? I simply cannot think of any other reason why only a small subset of users would be affected by this. Unfortunately for me, we're in month 2 of a 24 month contract (we signed up just before this became mainstream with the other ISP's on a monthly basis). I dont mind the exercise to manually restart the router but it's somewhat of an annoyance
