Intermittent internet connection

My internet connection is very unstable and I often can't browse the internet. However, turning the router on and off again fixes the problem. It's quite annoying. If anyone could tell me why this might be happening I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

There are endless possibilities, with the most likely one being a faulty/crappy router.

Could you provide more details please? Like router brand/model, line attenuation & noise (SNR) margins?
Is the router running quite hot?
