I have built a web app for a client. I have hosted in IIS on a machine that is not connected to the domain.
The address of the site atm is http:\\termsvr-ct:5798

As you can imagine for some users that can get confusing. The client wants the users to go the address
www.SomeSiteName.org
I have configured the host Header in the website but cant work out how to configure the domain DNS to point users to that site.

Clearly I cant use Google or don't know the correct terms to use.

Can any one help me out here ?

Forgot to mention this site is not exposed to the internet and mustnt be

Hi Pilks

You would need to update the DNS server that your clients machines are using to resolve hostnames, this is most likely your domain controller.
Simply add a record for www.sitename.org to point to your IIS server where your site is located.

Once this has been setup you should be able to ping that address and get a reply from your webserver.

Ok thanks

But what type of entry do I add ? Host or Alias ?

It might be easier to put that hostname and IP address into the hosts file until you get the dns working 100%.
