West Africa Submarine Cable (WASC) destroyed by Tongo earthquake?

Unlikely, since Tonga's on the other side of the planet.

Seems drastic though whatever it is.

The info comes from SAIX noticeboard posts. They generally don't help much except to demonstrate just how often there are problems with Telkom's network.

Dead like the dodo..
msn/gmail.. though some web stuff work including my mud for special reasons ;) I think i better not play PvP killing right now though.

I doubt the cable was destroyed but seem to remember that ADSL traffic is normally routed through the far east on the SAFE cable.

Cheers

Abe

This is crazy, I am down with ADSL for international. However if I use a dial-up account it is fine and slooooooooooooow.

Very much down, the only local website worth visiting is this one and when I hit the "post quick reply button" my job here will be done. You'd thinbk we'd at least have a decent soccer tean in this country since there is not much else to do with your time here

No international here (Cape Town) expect for a handful of sites and SKYPE, which somehow always seems to squeel its way through the network!

Yeah... I must say skype always get connectivity some way or another... If my skype can't connect, then I know there's really a problem

Somthng is weird.. cause my mud(telnet/txt) game is flying, FAST, no lag i'd be expecting when i ping i get 650+ms yet its responding like normal.. very very odd..

Some dude left a message when you call telkom's adsl fault logging service... At least they know about it

anyone with a SAIX account can enter their adsl account details to check this page :

http://www.noticeboard.saix.net/

It gives a history of all disclosed faults, their causes, and how the problem was solved.

btw Topic heading..: Internasional down?
Someone needs to spell properly ;)
